Is a sales coach a sales manager?

No, a sales coach is not a sales manager. A sales manager is responsible for producing results for your company through a salesforce. While many times a sales manager provides coaching, especially as it pertains to your company’s goal, your sales coach is responsible to you and you alone. Your sales coach works with you specifically to reach your goals, to overcome any performance obstacles that you identify as critical to your success, and to develop your growth plan as a salesperson—regardless of where to you choose to work in your career.

Why only Business-to-Business sales?

At MyB2BSalesCoach, we focus on the type of sales we know and understand. We find that business development in the B2B segment is growing more complex, and requires an ever-improving an increasingly set of skills--a set of skill that are not routinely developed by companies that are required to focus on their own immediate goals and priorities. We focus on developing these skills within this segment of the sales profession (which is estimated to be 75% of all sales professionals). If you sell to consumers (B2C), we will be happy to refer you to one of our trusted partners

Do great salespeople need coaches?
We believe that all great performers—in all disciplines—can benefit from coaching. Professional athletes have team coaches, as well as coaches for their individual disciplines. Professionals in the performing arts use coaches to sharpen their skills—even if they are at the top of their game. Even great executives, at the very pinnacle of corporate power, use executive coaches to improve their performance and help recognize areas where they might improve their individual performance—and their corporate performance. Good salespeople can achieve similar benefits through coaching.

Can a sales coach help me prepare for important sales calls?
A sales coach is there to help with your development, and this can sometimes mean working on individual sales calls that you identify as important to your success. Sometimes these critical sales calls are relevant in helping identify the issues and obstacles blocking you from achieving greater levels of success. While this is not a substitute for a growth plan, it can be a very important part of your growth.

Who pays for my sales coach?
Although you are responsible for payment, many companies recognize the value and will pay in full or in part to provide this benefit to their salesforce. Most people who utilize sales or personal coaches know that the increased potential income and career growth more than pay for the costs of a coach, which are relatively minor compared to the increase in earning potential and career growth.

How much of a time commitment is required to have a sales coach, and what are assignments like?
A sales coach usually works in increments of an hour per week of actual coaching time. Sometimes a salesperson will request additional time, and when possible, their sales coach will accommodate their requests. Additionally time will be required for exercises and readings related to the salespersons individual growth plan. It is safe to estimate that you will be required to spend an additional two to three hours per week working on assignments.
